Skin Care Tips

No matter how you think of it, your skin is very important. It covers and protects everything inside your body. In a way it is very important to take care of your skin.

I know I am not a dermatologist (can never sound like one!!), but here are some Do’s and Don’ts which can really make a difference to your skin.

Don’ts:

Don’t smoke. (Smoking makes your skin look older and contributes to wrinkles.)
Don’t consume excessive amounts of Caffeine.
Don’t Sunburn. (sun exposure can cause wrinkles, freckles, age spots and rough, dry skin & also Skin Cancer!)
Don’t drink Alcohol. (or keep it to a minimum)

Don’t take too many or too long baths in the winter.
Don’t use Petroleum jelly and its by-products, Cocoa butter or Oil as a facial skin moisturizer. (Mineral Oil/Petroleum jelly/Cocoa butter suffocate tissues around eyes)
Don’t leave makeup overnight. (I know this happens with everyone!)
Don’t stay in overheated rooms unless absolutely necessary.
Don’t over eat.
Don’t touch your facial skin again & again when outside (Touching your face can spread the bacteria that cause pores to become inflamed and irritated.)

Do’s:

Do the proper 3-step skin care routine (Cleansing-Moisturizing-Toning) twice a day regularly & Exfoliate as per need.
Do Workout.
Do drink plenty of water daily.
Do use a water filter.
Do use nutrient supplements if you drink alcohol.
Do use sunscreen daily.
Do eat properly. (never skip Breakfast)
Do wash your hands before applying anything to your face, such as treatment creams or makeup.
Do clean your cell phones (to prevent breakouts on side of the face), sunglasses frequently to keep oil from clogging the pores around your eyes and nose.
(If you're concerned about acne, talk to a dermatologist. Dermatologists offer a range of treatments that help to prevent acne scars. A dermatologist can help you find the treatment method that's best for you and can also give you lots of useful tips for dealing with acne and caring for your skin type.)

Hand Movements on Skin:

Around Eyes:
Always work from outer temple inward toward bridge of your nose.
Always use Ring finger around your eyes. (It is the weakest finer so it exerts least pressure)

Rest of the Face:
Use the finger tips of your first three fingers.
Finger motion should be circular and outward to the hairline (except for under the eyes)
